About SECOM Care Hub Personal Alarms

What is the SECOM Care Hub?

The SECOM Care Hub is a personal alarm system designed to help you live safely and independently at home. When you press the button on your Pearl device, the alert is first sent through the SECOM Care app. Your chosen responders, such as neighbours, family members or friends, will receive the alert instantly on their phones and have the opportunity to accept and assist.

If no responders on the app accept the alert within 3.5 minutes, the alarm will automatically escalate to SECOM’s 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) as a backup, ensuring help is always available when you need it.

Features & Functionality

Do all Care Hub devices include fall detection?
Fall detection is included only with the Advanced Pearl Pendant model. All other Pearl devices provide immediate help at the press of a button but do not automatically detect falls.

Are the devices waterproof?
Yes. Every Pearl device, whether a pendant, wristwatch, brooch, or Easy Press, is fully waterproof, so it can be worn in the bath or shower for complete protection 24/7.

How far can I move from the base unit?
The Care Hub system has a 300-metre range, giving you freedom to call for help anywhere in your home or garden.

How long does the battery last?
Each Pearl device features a long-life battery (up to 5 years). When it’s running low, SECOM automatically sends a replacement at no extra cost.

What happens when I press the button?
Pressing the button sends an alert via the SECOM Care app to your chosen contacts’ smartphones. If they’re unavailable, SECOM’s 24-hour monitoring centre will step in and assess the situation, contacting the emergency services if needed.

Technology & Reliability

Does the Care Hub need Wi-Fi or a landline?
No. The system uses a built-in SIM card, so it works without relying on a landline or internet connection.

What happens if there’s a power cut?
The Care Hub base unit includes a 70-hour backup battery, keeping your alarm system active even during extended power outages.

Yes. You can add multiple Pearl devices to suit your household’s needs:

Payments & VAT

How do payments work?
Your upfront cost (including setup and your first month) is paid securely online by card via Stripe at the point of purchase.
Ongoing monthly payments start from the second month and are collected automatically via Direct Debit, set up during the Zoho Sign document process.

Am I eligible for VAT exemption?
If you have a long-term illness, disability, or medical condition, you may qualify for VAT exemption on your Care Hub.

To qualify, you simply need to:

  • Confirm your medical condition during sign-up (no medical proof required).
  • Complete a short VAT exemption declaration stating the condition is long-term and the equipment is for your personal use.
  • Be the end user of the product.

Our team will guide you through the declaration during the ordering process.

Support & Maintenance

Who do I contact if my alarm isn’t working?
SECOM’s UK-based technical engineers currently provide support Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00. Our team can remotely diagnose issues and, if needed, arrange a fast replacement or repair. We are working towards offering full 24/7, 365-day support in the near future, and will update customers as soon as this becomes available.

Once your order is confirmed, we’ll ship your device directly to your home.
