Frequently Asked Questions
What is a motion sensor used for?
A motion detector, or PIR, is an electronic device that uses one or more sensors to detect movement. They are a crucial part of any security system and will raise an alarm in the event of a break-in.
What is a ceiling motion sensor?
Motion detectors use passive infrared technology to detect movement. Ceiling-mounted PIRs work the same as traditional motion sensors, the only difference is they are mounted on the ceiling rather than the wall.
How are motion sensors mounted?
Motion sensors usually come with a mounting bracket that detaches from the back of the device. During installation, a SECOM engineer will remove the mounting bracket from the detector before screwing it into the ceiling.
