The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) is the leading approvals and certification body that scrutinises companies providing home security, business security and fire safety. In the Republic of Ireland, the NSI operates as Certic CS, inspecting security companies and ensuring they uphold the same high standards. All of our security systems and solutions installed in the Republic of Ireland are accredited by Certic CS.
ISO is an independent, non-governmental organisation that is made up of 167 national standards bodies. It recognises the best ways of carrying out certain tasks or services and supplies standards based on the knowledge of experts in any given industry. Certification bodies then carry out assessments to ensure companies are complying with these standards.
There are a number of ISO directives that are relevant to SECOM’s security operations, including ISO 14001 certification and ISO 27001 certification. ISO 14000 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system. SECOM complies with ISO 14001:2015 for the installation, monitoring and maintenance of security systems. This offers our customers peace of mind at every stage of the process.
ISO 27001 certification shows that we have identified the risks, assessed the implications and put in place systemised controls to eliminate the risk of a security breach that could have legal or business continuity implications.
ISO 9001 is a set of requirements that guide our organisation on how to implement standardised management practices, around improving quality and customer satisfaction. This requires the implementation of a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) – This is an integrated approach to operating our company, providing our Quality Service Provision, and driving continuous improvement for our customers.
The Fire Emergency Security Systems (FESS) accreditation standard reflects the competency of the engineers designing, installing and maintaining electronic systems to protect businesses, homes and properties against fires, break-ins and other emergencies. This is accredited to the level 3 industry standard.
Gate Safe was established to improve the understanding of existing legislation and standards, and to offer further guidance in ‘plain English’ to aid the interpretation of what constitutes a safe automated gate. SECOM is a Premier Aware Installer.
British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE) is the independent register of quality fire safety service providers, who are certified to ensure quality and competence to help meet your fire safety obligations. SECOM is a BAFE Scheme SP203 company, meaning we comply with the body’s regulations on designing, installing, commissioning, maintaining and verifying fire detection and alarm systems in the UK.
The Fire Industry Association (FIA) is the largest fire protection trade association in the UK and SECOM is one of its 1,000-plus members. Being fully accredited by the FIA means we benefit from the body’s technical support, guidance and fire safety training.
SECOM is signed up to FIRAS, which is a voluntary, third-party certification scheme for installation contractors of both passive and active fire protection systems. It is operated by Warringtonfire and accredited by UKAS to BS EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012.
SECOM is a registered member of TSA, the industry body for Technology Enabled Care (TEC). TSA promotes and supports the TEC industry, highlighting the benefits of TEC for commissioners across health and social care, service users, their family and carers.
The British Safety Council promotes higher standards of health and safety in the workplace through auditing and the provision of relevant qualifications. This ensures our employees and customers are safe throughout all our installations.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) provides information, resources and training in the promotion of safety and the prevention of accidents. SECOM’s engineers regularly update their knowledge to promote best practice at work.
The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) ensures companies meet acceptable standards of health and safety compliance.
