Wireless External Door Sensor

Product description

When it comes to protecting your home, entry points such as windows and doors are a top priority. But what about external structures such as garden gates and sheds? Thieves are always on the lookout for access points, and neglecting to secure the outside of your home could leave areas of your property vulnerable to theft.

SECOM’s wireless outdoor magnetic contact ensures your property is totally protected. The sensor regularly updates your security system throughout the day, and in the event of a break-in can send alerts to your smartphone and our 24-hour monitoring centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a door sensor?

Door and window sensors are a key part of any home security system they monitor the most vulnerable areas of your home and let you know if someone tries to gain access to your property without your permission.

How do door sensors work?

Door sensors come in two parts: a static part that fixes to the door frame, and a moving part that attaches to the door. A current flows between the two pieces when they are together. This allows the sensor to determine when the door is open and when it is shut. If your security system is armed and someone tries to pry open your door, the two sensors will separate, setting off the alarm.

Where do you put an external door sensor?

External door and window sensors should be used to monitor the perimeter of your property. The sensors must be installed parallel to each other and close enough for the magnetic contact to activate the reed switch.
